Long Range Forecast: 'Beauty and the Beast 3D,' 'Joyful Noise' and 'Contraband'

Coming off the $30 million opening/$94 million cume of The Lion King 3D, Disney will be optimistic about Beauty and the Beast 3D. An entire generation of girls grew up with the film, and now that they are grown up they'll be able to take their daughters to enjoy it as well. The main factor that will stop it from matching Lion King's haul is it doesn't have nearly as much appeal among males.

Joyful Noise could turn into something of a sleeper hit. The uplifting flick is bound to entice the same faith-based crowds that lined up for The Blind Side and Courageous. The combination of Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton will help Joyful Noise bring in a broad range of demographics.

Contraband will serve as a nice bit of counterprogramming to Beauty and the Beast 3D and Joyful Noise. Expect males looking for a dose of action after an Oscar season full of serious dramas and family-skewing flicks to show up in droves.

Check out our predictions for these films as well as other in the table below.
